Keratin tip extensions — also called Pearl Bonding — are individually pre-tipped strands of hair that we warm and bond one by one to your own. The result is undetectable density and length that moves and styles exactly like your own hair.
It’s a deeply hands-on, high-luxury service. Where our Invisible Bead method delivers volume on a row, keratin tips let us place density exactly where you want it — at the part, around the face, through fine areas — without a continuous weft.

The keratin tip is pre-formed in the shape of a tiny pearl — round, smooth, and flat against the scalp. When it’s warmed and shaped to your strand, the bond lies flush, with no catch and no visible line.
Because we’re placing strands one at a time, we can blend color, density, and direction exactly to your natural pattern — which is what makes a keratin install feel like it grew out of your own head.
It’s a long appointment — usually four to six hours — but we get the full install done in a single day, so you walk out finished, not halfway there.

Consultation
We match color in person, talk through density and placement goals, and quote the hair. Keratin orders are often custom-blended, so plan a little lead time before your install.

Install Day
Plan on 4–6 hours total — a long day, but we finish the whole install in one sitting. We bond each strand by hand, then cut and blend.

Live In Them
Wear your hair however you want — keratin tips are heat-tool friendly, swim-friendly, and ponytail-proof. You'll go home with a brush and a routine we'll walk you through.

Move-Ups
Every 3–5 months we remove, re-tip, and re-bond. Your hair is often reusable across several cycles — your stylist will tell you when it's time to invest in new strands.

What are Keratin Tip Extensions?+
Keratin tip extensions are individual strands of hair pre-tipped with a small bead of food-grade keratin. The keratin is gently warmed and bonded one strand at a time to your natural hair. The bond is shaped like a tiny pearl — which is why we also call it Pearl Bonding — and lies flat against your scalp.
Are keratin tips better than tape-in or hand-tied extensions?+
It depends on your hair and your goal. Tape-ins are fast but visible from certain angles. Hand-tied wefts (IBE) deliver volume on a row. Keratin tips deliver density — each strand is hand-placed, so you can build coverage in fine areas, frame the face, or add length without a continuous weft. It's the most detailed, customizable method we offer.
How much do keratin tip extensions cost in Pittsburgh?+
Keratin install is charged at your stylist's hourly rate — $55/hr with our Lamb (Associate) stylist, $85/hr with our Shepherd (Senior), or $110/hr with our Head Shepherd (Owner & Creative Director). A typical full install is 4–6 hours, done in a single day. The cost of the hair / strands is quoted separately at your consultation.
Will keratin tips damage my hair?+
When installed and removed correctly, the keratin bond is designed to be gentle on your natural hair. We follow the manufacturer's heat and tension guidelines exactly, and remove old bonds carefully at every move-up. As with any extension method, the right home care matters too — we'll send you home with what you need.
How long do keratin tip extensions last?+
Plan on move-ups every three to five months, depending on growth and how you wear your hair. With proper care, a single set of strands can be reused across several move-ups — your stylist will let you know when it's time to invest in new hair.
