The art of lived-in color.
Balayage at Lost Sheep is built around one idea: color that looks soft, sun-touched, and entirely your own.
We hand-paint and foil where each serves your goal, tone with intention, and finish with a gloss and a blowout that lets you actually see how the color will live. Most of our clients walk out and don’t need to come back for 10–14 weeks — which is half the point of going this route.
Three ways into lived-in color.
Balayage / Blonding
“Soft, sun-touched, freehand.”
Hand-painted lightener tailored to your goal — bright blonde, soft money-piece, or warm bronde. Toner and gloss to finish. Built for slow, beautiful grow-outs.
Lowlights + Dimension
“Depth, contrast, richness.”
Foiled or hand-painted deeper tones to add dimension to grown-out hair. Often paired with a balayage or gloss to reset the whole color story.
Refresh Gloss
“Shine. Tone. Revive.”
A semi-permanent gloss between full color visits to neutralize brassiness and restore shine. Add-on or standalone.
Blonding pricing in Pittsburgh.
All pricing is “starting at” and reflects the minimum estimated time for your service. Final pricing depends on hair length, thickness, and complexity — your consultation will dial this in.
* For color corrections or transformation appointments (going significantly lighter from a darker starting point), please book a consultation first — we’ll quote a custom plan.

What is balayage?+
Balayage is a freehand technique — lightener is hand-painted onto the hair for a soft, sun-touched look with no harsh regrowth line. In practice we often combine hand-painting with foils (sometimes called foilayage) to control brightness and lift exactly where your goal calls for it. Either way, it's built to grow out beautifully — the foundation of what people now call "lived-in color."
How much does balayage cost in Pittsburgh?+
At Lost Sheep Salon, our Blonding service (which includes balayage, highlights, or foils tailored to your goal — plus toner and a blowout) starts at $195 with our Lamb stylist, $280 with our Shepherd, and $385 with our Head Shepherd when paired with a haircut. Without a haircut, prices start at $165, $240, and $330. Final pricing depends on hair length, thickness, and complexity.
How often do I need to come back for balayage?+
Most lived-in color clients come in every 8–14 weeks — the soft grow-out means there's no harsh line forcing you back in early. We pair color appointments with a Refresh Gloss in between to keep tone soft and shine high.
Will balayage damage my hair?+
Lightening any hair involves some lift, so we treat the integrity of your hair as part of the service — bond-builders, Olaplex-style protection where appropriate, and a tailored treatment afterward. Our Natural Tech Tailored Treatment ($25 flat) is available as an add-on with every color visit.
Can I bring inspiration photos?+
Please do — Pinterest, Instagram saves, screenshots, all of it. Bring photos of what you love and (just as importantly) what you don't. We'll talk through what's realistic for your starting point and build a multi-visit plan if it's a bigger transformation.
How do I book a balayage appointment in Pittsburgh?+
You can book online directly. If you're new to the salon or planning a color correction, we recommend starting with a consultation so we can match your goal to the right service length and stylist. Or text the salon at 724-840-4080.
“The best service I have ever had. The warmest greeting and the kindest women welcome you as soon as you step foot inside that door. The atmosphere is top notch and very professional. I don't think I can ever go anywhere else now. It's really the best and most relaxing salon I've ever been in.”
