Hair Extensions Cost in Pittsburgh

Real prices from our booking system, and an honest word on the part we quote in person.

Hair extensions have two costs: the labor to install them and the hair itself. At Lost Sheep Salon in Pittsburgh, install labor is $85 to $110 per row for Invisible Bead Extensions and $85 to $110 per hour for keratin tips, depending on your stylist. The hair is quoted at a free consultation, because it depends on your color, your length, and how much hair your goal takes.

Move-up and maintenance prices

Extensions are not a one-time cost. As your hair grows, bead rows are moved back up toward the root about every 8 to 10 weeks. Keratin tips are removed and re-set every 3 to 5 months.

What the hair costs

This is the part we will not guess at online. The hair is priced by how much you need, how long it is, and the color match, and those are different for every head. A number quoted without seeing your hair is usually wrong, in one direction or the other. So we quote it in person at a free consultation, or from photos if you would rather send a few pictures for a quote. Either way, you hear the full number before anything is booked.

A real example

Say you want two rows of Invisible Bead Extensions with Adalina. The install labor is two rows at $85, so $170, plus the hair we quoted you. After that, each two-row move-up is $300, about every 8 to 10 weeks. With Brilyn, the same install is $220 in labor and each two-row move-up is $400.

What changes the price

Four things, and all four get settled at the consultation. The method, because bead rows are priced per row and keratin tips by the hour. How many rows or how much hair your goal takes. Your stylist, since Brilyn and Adalina are at different levels. And the hair itself.

If you are still deciding between methods, start with hair extensions in Pittsburgh, or read tape-in vs. hand-tied vs. k-tip extensions.

Common questions

How much do hair extensions cost in Pittsburgh?
At Lost Sheep Salon the install labor is $85 to $110 per row for Invisible Bead Extensions (hand-tied wefts) and $85 to $110 per hour for keratin tips, depending on your stylist. The hair is quoted separately at a free consultation, because it depends on your color match, your length, and how much hair your goal takes.
Why isn't the price of the hair listed?
Because it is different for every head. The amount of hair, the length, and the color match all change it, and a number guessed over the internet is usually wrong. We quote the hair at your free consultation, or from photos if you would rather start that way, so the number you hear is the number for your hair.
How much is a move-up?
An Invisible Bead move-up is $175 to $200 for one row, $300 to $400 for two rows, and $400 to $500 for three rows, depending on your stylist. Rows are moved up about every 8 to 10 weeks.
Is the extensions consultation free?
Yes. The consultation is free. We look at your hair, talk through what you want, match your color, and give you a quote for the hair.
Which costs more, Invisible Bead or keratin tip extensions?
They are priced differently. Invisible Bead installs are priced per row ($85 to $110), and a row takes about an hour. Keratin tip installs are priced by the hour ($85 to $110) and typically take 4 to 6 hours, because every bond is placed strand by strand. Keratin tips are then re-set every 3 to 5 months, while bead rows are moved up every 8 to 10 weeks.
